Fritz and Norwegian hits at the Rhiz
It is never easy for smaller bands to go to another country and sell out venues and impress crowds. It is even harder when you have to play after local bands which bring with them an armada of fans. This was very much the case on Friday night for Norway’s Making Marks as they were supported by The Fritz in Rhiz.
The Fritz fritzing the fritz out of it
The very intimate surroundings of the Gürtel club provided the perfect stage for the Viennese band’s 2nd live gig. In front of a predominantly female crowd (something I am sure every budding rock star dreams of) The Fritz gave another solid performance as they continue to increase their fan base in Vienna.
The band haven’t rested on their laurels since their first gig in B72 either. This time they offered up a number of new and enjoyable songs with guest singer Kat, whose voice worked perfectly as an accompaniment to lead singer Reitsamer.
Cat and Pig (and Kat) in top form.
If you haven’t seen them in action yet then you won’t have to go too far to see them next as they will be playing the Rhiz once again on the 28.05 supporting White Mystery at a Reich & Föhn presents.. night.
Making Marks. Xylophone is the new cow bell
It was always going to be difficult for the Norwegian four-piece formerly know as My Little Pony after this, and it was unsurprising that many left the sweltering confines of the Rhiz to enjoy the balmy spring evening outside. Those that did stay were treated to a lesson in indie-pop pleasantness and it wasn’t long until the room was full again as the band banged out tune after bouncy, jingly jangly, hip shaking tune.
Any band which successfully uses a xylophone has a place in my heart. I have said it before and I will say it again, Xylophone is the new cow bell.
