Kafka Tamura don’t have the most typical of band formation stories. Emma Dawkins, a 16 year old girl from Southampton met Gabriel Häuser and Patrick Bongers, both from Germany in 2012 on Soundcloud. A few emails later, the first vocal track was sent from England to Germany and “Somewhere Else” became the debut song. It wasn’t until January 2013 that they met for the first time in Southampton.
Things have gone pretty quickly for the band since then. Their debut EP “Somewhere Else” has now been released and can be bought here. Watch the very nice video to the dreamy “Somewhere Else” below for a taste of what to expect.
The British-German trio make low-fo electronica in the mould of the XX. The intricate harmonies of Patrick Bongers and Gabriel Häuser take the voice of the young english singer, pulls it close and creates an idyllic surrounding for it. The interweaving electronica, together with the structured beats and the intimacy of the songs make Kafka Tamura a band to look out for in 2014.
Kafka Tamura will be touring in Germany, England and France over the coming months. Check out their Facebook Page for more dates.
