Our inbox was smoking in February due to the amount of hot music coming in. Here are the tunes that got our musical juices flowing in the shortest month of the year. The rules are simple, only music which has somehow found its way to us through our various channels gets into the list, so if you want to be in the March edition, contact us through the following: Facebook /// Twitter /// Soundcloud and of course email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rodrigo Amarante – Hourglass
This is the first single off the artist’s, who is already known for his work in Little Joy and Los Hermanos, debut solo album, Cavalo which will be out on May 6th on Easy Sound.
Garish – Alte Bekannte
A wonderful song from the band off their recently released Trumpf album which is available here. The band will be touring Austria in March and April, full tour dates here.
Scarlet Chives – Others Are The Force
Scarlet Chives’ This is Protection album is an early candidate for album of the year in my opinion. Original, fresh, emotional, musically beautiful and textually perfect. Keep an eye on SiM for an exclusive interview with the band. Their album will be released in Austria on Siluh Records on the 21st of March.
WOODS – Moving To The Left
Distinct from both the stoned volk of their earliest recordings and the Kraut-y dalliances of more recent fare, With Light And With Love showcases a more sophisticated brand of contemporary drug music that owes more to Magical Mystery Tour than motorik. “With Light And With Love” is out on April 15th on Woodsist Records
Mr Little Jeans – Good Mistake
This tune is going to be played across the world for the next few months, and rightly so. Mr Little Jeans has created something so many bands desire but fail to achieve…pop perfection.
Pillar Point – Cherry
The moody, melancholy electronica is the work of Scott Reitherman, who until now has been primarily known for his involvement with indie-pop outfit Throw Me the Statue. Just full of synth and feeling. Lovely. The self-titled debut from Pillar Point is out now and available here
At Pavillon – Ultimate Goal
The viennese band follow up the decent work done in 2013 with another good tune. The angular guitar and edgy sound remind me a lot of Battle, one of my favorite bands from a bygone era. Lets hope At Pavillon continue along this path this year.
Papercuts – Still Knocking At The Door
Papercuts is the moniker of San Francisco singer/songwriter/producer Jason Quever. Recorded mostly in his SF home studio and after having spent nearly 2 years whittling the record down to the essentials Still Knocking At The Door is the lead single from Papercuts’ forthcoming debut, Life Among The Savages. Available in Europe on Memphis Industries from the 12th of May,
Cherry Glazerr – Whites Not My Color This Evening
L.A based band Cherry Glazzer make music to graze your knees too. This track has a dirty attitude which demands to be given attention. Haxel Princess came out on January 14th and can be bought on their Bandcamp Page
ANTO DUST – 1955
Anto Dust is a London based quintet, led by Italian vocalist and guitarist Anto Cossu who craft songs consisting of a luscious blend of dreamy, psych pop and Shoegaze, where ethereal vocals and blissed out melodies take centre stage.
Cari Cari – No War
After White Line Fever the vienna-based band dropped their 2nd track of the upcoming AMERIPPINDUNKLER EP which comes out on the 23rd of March. „No War“ is an epic 7 minute hymn full of hypnotizing guitar riffs didgeridoo and it is another reason to look forward to the release of the EP.
