Part one /// Part Three
M185 – Soon
The noise rockers are back on the scene and return with a brand new album “Everything is Up” which came out on the 22nd of May on Siluh Records. As you would expect from M185, it is full of driving indie rock, psychadelic arrangements, raw garage sounds and the usual touch of chic. Get it here
Leisure Suite – Great Expectations
Emerging from the grime-riddled depths of Melbourne’s inner-west, comes a sound that is anything but begrimed. Led by the wistful croon of vocalist Bridgette Le, ‘Great Expectations’ is a sultry and soulful jaunt into electronic-pop paradise
TOWNS- Too Tired
Childhood friends TOWNS create a spaced out suburban escapism that combines the experimental guitar sounds and DIY aesthetics of psych and shoegaze with the melodies of 60s and 90s guitar pop. The debut album “Get By” was released on June 2nd on Bristol’s much lauded DIY label Howling Owl Records.
Misun – Eli Eli
Eli Eli by Misun is one of those tracks. It sounds like the kind of musical love child Parov Stelar and Santigold would make after a night of Mojitos on a yacht off the coast of South France. It just hits you right in the summer feels.
SALES – vow
Vow is the next track to be released off their upcoming self-titled album and it is another example of their catchy minimalist guitar-pop jams. SALES is a collaboration between long-time friends, Lauren Morgan (guitar/vocals) and Jordan Shih (guitar/programming). The duo has been recording together on and off for years, eating an abundance of Thai food, and dreaming of tennis but never really going the distance to the court.
Melted Toys – Observations
Inspired both by the shifting visions of dreams and global travel, Melted Toys have a distinct blend of hazy, plaintive pop and psychedelic electronica. On July 15, Underwater Peoples will release the self-titled debut album by west coast band. Culminating three years after their acclaimed Washed & Dried EP first unveiled , Melted Toys reigns in squarely as the group’s most definitive vision yet.
Coucheron – Deep End ft. Eastside and Mayer Hawthorne
Every now and then a major hit slips into our “best of” section. This is one of them. It just stinks of summer. Not the sweaty, musky kind of summer, but the sandy, sun tanned Mojito-fuelled kind of lazy summer days when the world just seems so much happier with itself.
NIHILS – Help our souls
Austrian band Nihils released their 2nd single Help our Souls at the end of May. In keeping with the style of the band it is a catchy piece of indie pop which you will find humming away to for hours to follow. The band’s debut album is set to come out later this year.
