Hey Waves, let’s have a party!
Waves Vienna turns five this year. Five years of discovering your new favourite bands, late nights, weird and wonderful venues and dirty, stinking hangovers. In other words, five great years.
As with every Waves Festival the timetable can be a little daunting, the big names are now fewer and far between as it seeks to become one of the key festivals for showcasing new bands. We’ve listened to all of them and picked out a few highlights which you should definitely not miss over the three days. But don’t expect to be able see everything you want to.

Elephants from Neptune – 19:15 – Badeschiff
The soul/rock/blues band from Estonia could be a nice surprise package to start off the second night of the festival.
Lea Santee – 20:15 – Alte Post
Another example of the talent flowing through Austria’s musical veins at the moment with her atmospheric sound and the ability to make a tune stay in your head forever. It is no surprise that her tracks have over 200,000 plays on Soundcloud.
Pins – 20:30 – Red Bull Brandwagon
The Manchester foursome make dirty indie rock in the only way it should be done.
Coasts – 22:00 – Porgy & Bess
We stay on the British Isles with Coasts, a band you will be hearing a lot more of in the future if the hype in the UK is anything to go by. The band from Brighton make indie pop in its most easily enjoyable form.
Honne – 23:15 – Porgy & Bess
British electro-soul duo Honne are final band on stage at the Warner Music night with their critically acclaimed mix that will get heads nodding and hips swinging.
Cepasa – 23:30 – Künstlerhaus Basement
In a similar style to Konea Ra, the Austrian artist who play before them (also worth checking out), Cepasa makes emotionally understated dance and deep electronica that is sure to hit a special part of you at this time of night.
