Substance Is Meaningless Top tracks – May 2018 – Part 1

© Hood

Ooooooh, festival season is almost upon us, which means there are all the really cool lesser known events to look forward too with smaller bands, and of course, those overly commercial, over-priced shells of once-great festivals as well, if that’s your thing…

We have another selection of tasty tracks for your listening pleasure; maybe you’ll have the chance to catch a few of these over the next few months?

Odina – I’m Not Asking

We start off with the exquisite and unique vocals of Spanish singer-songwriter Odina. Heavily influenced by the likes of Bon Iver and Keaton Henson, the rising talent displays a degree of complexity in this newest effort with her lyrical prowess and captivating, stripped-back sound coming to the fore once again.

Boston indie-rockers Today Junior have dropped a hooky and fluid new track off their album ‘Single Forever,’ which was released a the end of April. It’s a catchy little bugger, this one.

The Caracals – City Girl

We carry on the catchy, poppy, summer indie vibes with The Caracals. The Caracals is the brainchild of charismatic songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Johnny Cis, an Orange County-based artist with a creative vision and a passion for retro aesthetics.

Marius Maeland – Simulacrum

This is an exciting track from Norwegian artist Marius Maeland. It’s a haunting, hypnotising track which creates a sound intent on using his powerful vocals, eerie atmospheres, and striking melodic twists ‘n’ turns.

Feelium- Your Heart Will Learn To Recognize It In Time

Top marks for originality today go to Feelium, who have combined old-school gaming music with melodies to put a smile on your face and click your fingers to. And, love the video!

Euroteuro – Window

One thing Euroteuro do exceptionally well is to make simplicity sound so entrancing. According to the band, the track is a classical B-side that won’t be on the upcoming album. The song was written & performed by Cash Storm with arrangement and concept by EUROTEURO.

Drift off and float to the lovely melodies of this tune by Austrian trio Love Good Fail. The track is another off their upcoming album which will be released on 6th of June on SEAYOU records. If you wanna catch them live, then they’re playing these gigs below:

26.05.2018 AT, Wien @ Arena / 5 Jahre FK Rüdengasse

06.06.2018 AT, Wien @ Grelle Forelle / Album release show w/ I-Wolf facebook event
