Culk – Begierde/Scham

This is another one of those moments when I’m so grateful to be able to understand German, but also, at the same time so annoyed that so many people might not be able to enjoy this song as fully as they really should. Bergierde/Sham is the debut track from young band CULK on Austrian label Siluh Records. It’s a slow-burner that gets better and better the longer it goes on.

It’s a mysterious, energetic but also hypnotizingly melancholic 3 minutes and 17 seconds that owes a lot to the laconic and soporific singing of multi-instrumentalist Sophie Löw. As far as “here we are” entrances go, this is a doozy.
