New Year? Yes. New Music? Yes. Regular posts? Maybe.
We’ll start the new year with a dark, poetic piece of music from Danish artist IAMJJ. He’s got a voice that sounds like he’s been smoking 40 a day for the last 30 years, which is interesting for an artist who looks like it wasn’t that long ago that he came out of nappies. Perhaps it’s his drastic approach to his art and life that has given him his Tom Waitsesque growl?Check out his latest single, Bloody Future below.
IAMJJ will be playing at the Eurosonic festival on January 17th and is being tipped as one of Denmark’s most promising new talents.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Bc0DbqX1nc
His debut album, also called Bloody Future, will be released in March, 2018.
Stereoface sold out clubs between Vienna, Berlin and Zurich in the mid-noughties with scrambling riffs and speakers turned up to 12. Despite their loud and impetuous wildness, their songwriting and arrangments were always very sophisticated and well thought-out. After a hiatus which saw band members follow other artistic directions (Polkov, Marta, Empty Lot, Lili & Tiger Family) Stereoface returned to the studio this year to record an album that will fully satisfy any avant-garde, art rock needs you currently crave. 'JAWS' will be released on 03.11.2017 on Phonotron. Check out their latest video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3ufm3G4E0U
"I had really good sex to this song"That's the first thing you see when you look at the comments section on YouTube. How can you top that kind of review? The plain and simple answer is, you can't. Which is why we'll stop writing and let Wandl's music do the talking. Watch the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuZV4w0Tohs&feature=youtu.be 22-year-old Vienna-resident Wandl developed into one of the most progressive and interesting European producers in recent years. His long play-debut It’s All Good Tho brings his take on melodic vocals and experimental, bass-driven instrumentals to the fore. His EPs “Milk”, “Soon” and his Affine-debut "Far Way Home“ stretch out his personal vision of brainfeeder-nerdism and state of the art bedroom-soul. On “It’s All Good Tho” he plays almost all the instruments, channels his vocals through machines, alienates and exposes them – and he’s not shy of monumental hooks. Yes, please! You can't beat a good cuppa. And anyone that writes a song using the beautiful light brown elixir – that's right, the only real tea is black with milk – is a winner is our book. Head back to the summer when it was sunny, and blue, and everything had a much warmer filter to it, like this video to Nelio's single, Fuat Foan, which in English basically means to get away, go somewhere far away from home: on a road trip, on holiday, to a festival, hell, maybe even just popping to the shop a couple of miles down the road than round the corner. Anything is an adventure if you look at it the right way! Watch the video below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP4Blpwah3g
