Festival times are coming. Not only the big commercial junk food, but a healthy diet of smaller, nicer, more independent festivals and “summerfests” as well. There is still plenty happening indoors though too for those […]
Founded in 2003, Noise Appeal Records can look back proudly on 10 successful years of service to the Austrian music scene. With a number of their bands featuring at Eurosonic Noorderslag recently, it is fair […]
Sex Jams are back with a new single and video which takes us to the junkyard. The video to this energetic little power bomb is produced by Collective Kafka and directed by Johannes Gierlinger. It follows […]
Substance is Meaningless will be heading off to pay a visit to some other foreign shores for the next few weeks, so this is the last “things to see and do” for a while. There isn’t too much happening anyway, apart from the Popfest, which will be HAMazing as ever.
Here is what you should do this week.
Teenbeat Sommerfest feat. THEE OH SEES (US) @Chelsea– 24.07
One of the best organisers of indie gigs in vienna celebrates the summer season by bringing Thee Oh Sees to the Gürtel for a night of sweaty debauchery in Chelsea.
Popfest @Karlsplatz -25.07
This one is a bit of a no-brainer. The question is what should be lending your ear too over the course of the fest? We recommend:
Thursday: Steaming Satellites @Seebühne, Francis International Airport @Brut and Fijuka @Prechtsaal
Friday: Pretty much obvious: Catastrophe and Cure and A.G Trio @ Seebühne and Sex Jams @Brut
Saturday: Enjoy the bands on the Seebühne which we all know and love like Velojet and Gin Ga and then head to Brut for Punda Omar and Ghost Capsules.
Sunday: It is normally a day of rest, but go to the Kunsthalle for the Popfest Sessions with Plaided and Beach Girls and the Monster.
